Selvarajan joined Department of Genetic Engineering, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) in 2016 as Research Assistant Professor. His doctoral research focused on Immobilization of ?-galactosidase from Lactobacillus plantarum VITES07 on ZnO nanoparticles: Charaterization and lactose hydrolysis in treating lactose intolerance across the globe. And worked on multiple projects which include enhanced production of ?-amylase, staphylokinase, streptokinase and nattokinase, Bioremediation of endosulfan contaminated soil, Fermentative production of extracellular pigment from Streptomyces coelicolor. Currently working on “Cloning and Expression of Fibrinolytic Enzyme”. Additionally, working as a reviewer for Brazilian Archives of Biology and Technology and also awarded a Senior Research fellowship from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
